In reply to <a href="https://www.cathrinhagey.com/brownies-hobs-and-tricks-of-the-mind/#comment-216">Katherinelangrish</a>.

I love to hear other people's stories about these things. I find it interesting when one person feels comfortable in a house while another person feels the opposite way in the same place. I also wonder, in this time of constant moving from one house to another, what effect it will have on the "spirit" of these places. Will they be all mixed up?

I was reading this post with great interest - I know what you mean by that 'atmosphere of houses' thing - then came across your lovely compliment at the end. Thankyou! And now I do wonder how much that feeling has contributed to the notion of house spirits. I once lived in a very old house with two staircases. I never liked to turn my back on the passage at the top of the oldes, but every other part of the house was friendly.
